You’ve Got Questions About Eye Allergies, We’ve Got Answers

Dust bunnies, pollen, and even our beloved pets can all be culprits of triggering seasonal and chronic eye allergies that irritate us with red, itchy, and watery eyes. To avoid giving Fido the boot, try reducing your exposure to the source of your allergies to help alleviate symptoms.

Rubbing those itchy eyes that result from allergies can expose them to additional irritants that might be on your hands.

Frequent hand washing may help to lessen the irritation.

If being outside bothers you, try wearing sunglasses when you venture outward and avoid using fans, which stir up dust and pollen.

If dust ails you, use allergen-reducing covers for your bed and artificial tears or anti-allergy eye drops.  There are also several over-the-counter and prescription drops that may be helpful in relieving the symptoms.

If your symptoms worsen or persist, you should probably schedule an appointment with your ophthalmologist.

As always, if you have questions about this issue, or would like to chat with one of our staff, please call the office at 402.933.6600.
